Local QB DeQuandre Smith commits to South Carolina
Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley quarterback DeQuandre Smith has committed to South Carolina.
He is the third Gamecocks high school commit in the last four days with Madison (Miss.) Madison-Ridgeland Academy linebacker Stone Blanton and District Heights (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star EDGE Jaishawn Barham.
Barham is the No. 157 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the third-best player from the state of Maryland, behind only Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School four-star defensive lineman Dani Dennis-Sutton and St. Frances Academy teammate and four-star defensive lineman Derrick Moore.
South Carolina also landed two big-time transfers from Oklahoma on Monday night in quarterback Spencer Rattler and tight end Austin Stogner.
