Luke Doty believes Dowell Loggains will bring 'a lot of juice' to South Carolina offense
After the season ended, South Carolina lost its offensive coordinator, Marcus Satterfield to Nebraska. In response, head coach Shane Beamer brought in Dowell Loggains to lead the offense.
Now, quarterback Luke Doty explained that he thinks that Loggains is going to bring a lot of energy to the team’s offense.
“I think he’s gonna bring a lot of juice. Definitely a lot of good stuff that will take the playmakers that we have and fit the system around them and what they’re good at. So, I think that’s kind of what everybody’s excited about,” Doty said.
“It’s just getting him here and all the experience that he’s had, all the guys that he’s worked with, especially at the quarterback position, working with Jay Cutler, Connor Shaw, guys like that. I think we’re all really excited, just for him to get here and to continue to build that relationship as the winter, spring, goes on, and into spring ball, camp, and so on.”
Most of Loggains’ experience comes from the NFL, where he coached quarterbacks and was an offensive coordinator at several different spots. He has some college experience too, coming over to South Carolina from Arkansas, where he was a tight ends coach.

“So, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and he’s a great guy,” Doty continued. “Very genuine. So, just looking forward to continuing that relationship.”
Luke Doty is excited about being able to play in a bowl game
This season, Doty took a redshirt, only playing in four games. Now, thanks to a waiver from the NCAA, he’ll be allowed to play in the bowl game without burning his redshirt.
“I was pretty fired up about it and, you know, Coach Beamer texted me sometime that night, whenever it came out. A screenshot of whatever he got that said it had been approved and I’m pretty excited about it,” Doty said.
“Any opportunity I get, I’m gonna take it. So, I don’t know what my role will be if there will be any, but whatever it is, whatever I got to do, I’m always up for it. So, I’m just ready to have some fun out there.”
