North Texas running back Oscar Adaway has committed to play for South Carolina out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Tuesday night. A big addition to the position room for head coach Shane Beamer, looking to reload ahead of the 2024 season.

Adaway was quite effective this past season in Denton, TX, having the best numbers of his career. The running back put up 738 yards and six touchdowns on 123 carries.

Of course, moving to South Carolina and facing SEC opponents will be a level of competition Adaway has not seen in his career. But the Gamecocks did not have anybody on the 2023 roster reach his level of production — rushing yards or touchdowns. A great pickup from the program out of the portal.

Adaway played high school football at North Little Rock (AR) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,384 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
