Former four-star running back prospect Marshawn Lloyd showed off just what an incredible athlete he truly is on Saturday against the Charlotte 49ers, when he hurdled a defender in the open field on the way to a 25-yard touchdown run. The Gamecocks star running back encountered Charlotte defensive back Wayne Jones at the 16-yard line, where Lloyd immediately jumped right over him after Jones lowered his head trying to make the tackle. Lloyd then just continued racing towards the end zone for the easy touchdown.

Following South Carolina’s 56-20 victory, a reporter asked Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer if the South Carolina’s head track and field coach, Curtis Frye, had reached out to Lloyd about joining the track and field team.

“(Laughs). He may. We’re all for two-sport athletes around here. We’re recruiting one right now that would be an unbelievable track athlete and football player here as well. So, if coach [Curtis] Frye wants him, we’ll put him over there. Nah, it was good. I was proud of Marshawn and he’s gotten better as well. He ran the ball with bad intentions tonight. And I like all of those backs. CBS [Christian Beal-Smith] got in there and did some good things. Juju [McDowell] did some good things. Good to see him score a little as well,” Beamer said.

A reporter also asked Beamer if he’d seen Lloyd hurdle anyone in practice before. “I’m sure he has. I think everybody on that sideline was excited when he did it, though. I mean, I can’t recall if he did. I mean, Marshawn’s a super talented player. I’m sure he’ll tell you that he has at some point, but it was pretty cool to see him do that,” Beamer said.

Shane Beamer briefly mentioned Nyckoles Harbor

The two-sport athlete that Beamer mentioned above is of course, Nyckoles Harbor, out of Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.). Once it’s all said and done, the class of 2023 standout will likely be remembered as one of the greatest athletes in American sports history. He’s been clocked at 10.21 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

It’s not a stretch to say that he could qualify for the Olympics someday down the road. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound athlete is considering South Carolina, along with Michigan, LSU, and Maryland. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2023 cycle, Habor is ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the country and the No. 10 overall prospect in America. Once you turn on his highlight tape, it’s immediately evident why. There are simply few athletes quite like him on planet Earth.
