Shane Beamer, South Carolina remake iconic scene from The Office
Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks have won the preseason hype video of the year after remaking a scene from The Office.
The video recreates the popular SpeedOMeter scene that sees Michael Scott try to reach top speeds outside of the office building by sprinting past a radar speed sign. Beamer did the same, and there’s one thing we know for sure — Shane Beamer is just a bit faster than Michael Scott.
Check out the hilarious video that features a handful of Gamecock players below:
The posting of the video coincides with the latter half of spring ball. Putting the fun and games aside, Beamer took a moment earlier this week to discuss how his team has progressed over the past few weeks. They’re in a better place now than they were before, according to the Gamecocks headman.
“We continue to progress and get better,” Beamer said. “That’s what I talked to the team about last night after practice, like the human nature is okay, ‘we’re 10 practices down.
“Next week, the last week of spring break. We got Easter weekend coming up.’ Human nature is to go ‘Alright, we’re good and just kind of coast’ and I talked to the team about this today. I went back and like this week last year, we didn’t do a great job academically, we didn’t do a great job keeping the locker room clean, a lot of things like that were maybe last year we took a breath and didn’t get better.”

Beamer is looking to build on the success he’s seen right off the bat during his first two years at South Carolina. He inherited a team coming off a 2-8 season and took the Gamecocks to a bowl game in his first season — and went on to defeat North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Last season, Beamer led Carolina to an 8-win season that saw his team become one of the hottest teams toward the end of the season.
In two years, Beamer has wins over Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Clemson. That’s an impressive slate of SEC wins — not to mention a huge victory over in-state rival Clemson, and South Carolina has the potential to be one of those teams other programs don’t want to face down the stretch.
They’ve proven they can beat almost everyone, and based on that spring hype video — Beamer’s team has rallied around him. Those on South Carolina’s roster have bought into Beamer’s vision, and it’s starting to pay off on and off the field.
