Shane Beamer takes victory lap following Mizzou win: 'We got culture here'
Both Missouri and South Carolina walked into Williams-Brice Stadium feeling like the College Football Playoff dream was still alive. Only the Gamecocks will leave feeling that way, as Shane Beamer led his team to another magical victory. Rocket Sanders scored the game-winning touchdown with just seconds remaining on the clock to send Columbia into a frenzy.
Nobody was happier following the game than Beamer, talking with SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic. The head coach lit up discussing the culture his program has and the love inside the locker room — something he believes is going away in today’s college football.
“We have great leadership, they’re great kids — young men — first and foremost. They love one another, they believe in one another. You don’t hear about that a lot now, people talk about it. It’s real here. We got culture here. You saw the way our guys believe in one another, continue to fight for one another as well. I’m just so happy for them.”
Even in the 12-team CFP era, three losses are likely too many to make the field. South Carolina was 3-3 at one point but has continued to play well against quality opponents, like Mizzou. Just working your way through the rest of the season could have been easy.

Instead, they improved to 7-3 on Saturday thanks to a four-game winning streak. A nice rise in the CFP rankings could be in order too since the Tigers were also tabbed as a top-25 team.
Getting to nine regular season wins is still possible, something the program has not done since Steve Spurrier was in charge. Wofford and Clemson remain on the schedule, with the former being at home and then heading on the road for an in-state rivalry matchup.
If South Carolina gets the job done, Beamer will certainly have his program’s culture to thank. It’s already produced a few special moments this season, with the Missouri win on Saturday evening certainly being one of them.
