Shane Beamer trolls Missouri on social media after winning Mayor's Cup
Shane Beamer had some heat for Missouri on social media after South Carolina snapped a five-game losing streak against the Tigers on Saturday. The Gamecocks staved off a late comeback attempt from Mizzou to hang on for the 34-30 victory in the Mayor’s Cup.
Shortly after the game, Beamer took the opportunity to take a victory lap on X, formerly Twitter. South Carolina quoted a post that the Missouri football account made earlier showing them taking the trophy with them to the game in a suitcase. The Gamecocks responded with a video of Beamer on the field afterward, going over and grabbing the trophy himself.
South Carolina led 21-6 entering halftime but would allow Missouri to come back and take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Tigers opened with 16 unanswered points to pull ahead 22-21 with 9:12 remaining and led 30-27 with just over a minute left in the game.
That’s when the Gamecocks drove downfield 70 yards before LaNorris Sellers completed a 15-yard passing to Raheim Sanders for the go-ahead touchdown. With 15 seconds remaining after that, South Carolina then forced an interception on defense to seal the win.
It marked the first victory against Missouri for Beamer, who was previously 0-3 in the Mayor’s Cup. Overall, the Tigers lead the series 9-6.

Now in his fourth season, this could be the best record yet for Beamer in his tenure at South Carolina. The Gamecocks improved to 7-3 (5-3 SEC) with the victory and are bowl eligible for the third time in those four seasons.
South Carolina seems likely to tie its highest win total under Beamer (8) as it has an easily winnable game against Wofford next week. After that, the Gamecocks will close out the season against in-state rival Clemson.
But for now, they’ll surely want to celebrate snapping the losing streak against Missouri with the Mayor’s Cup trophy now in their possession.
