South Carolina moved up its game against South Carolina State to Thursday night in an attempt to avoid issues relating to Hurricane Ian. Over the course of the game, Shane Beamer had to manage several injuries to his roster. Among those injured were Alex “Boogie” Huntley, Trai Jones, and Devonni Reed.

While speaking to the media in his postgame press conference, Shane Beamer gave a positive update for all three of those players.

“Boogie’s fine,” Shane Beamer said. “I think Boogie, Devonni Reed, and Trai Jones all got banged up a little bit in the game.”

“Don’t think anything’s long-term. Feel like they’re all fine. Devonni could have come back in and Trai Jones kind of got his ankle rolled up there at the end, and Boogie’s fine. He had been banged up a little bit and just kind of tweaked it a little bit tonight.”

Shane Beamer gave an update on Greg Adkins

South Carolina’s offensive line coach Greg Adkins was forced to take a temporary leave of absence. While Shane Beamer admitted the leave was due to a medical issue, he did not go into any further detail on the reason. He did give an update about the situation, though.

“He’s fine. Just a minor medical issue. He’s fine. I talked to him yesterday and he was in great spirits. His son, who’s on our team, is doing well. Not much more to share. Just a medical condition that he’s got that he’s taking care of. I don’t think it’s going to be long-term. When I talked to him yesterday afternoon, he told me that he felt like he’d be back really, really soon,” Shane Beamer said.
