South Carolina took down Texas A&M for the first time in program history Saturday night. Shane Beamer credited Gamecock nation for being the team’s (as the Aggies would call it) 12th man after the win.

“First of all, I want to thank our fans. That environment tonight may have been the greatest I’ve ever been apart of,” Beamer said after the win. “Starting with the Gamecock Walk, 2001, Sandstorm, just the advantage they gave us throughout the night – I told the players at the hotel that we haven’t gotten off to great starts at home.

“I don’t know if it’s because we’re caught up in 2001 and Sandstorm and the Gamecock Walk and we don’t get out there and execute like we should. I told the players right before we came over here, ‘understand the crowd is going to be a great advantage for us. We’re not going to win the game because of the crowd.’ I think I screwed that up because of the noise they made, the false starts they caused – thank you.”

Sitting at 5-2 through the first half of the season, the Gamecocks are off to its best start to a season since 2017. More importantly, these wins aren’t being taken for granted. Beamer made it clear how much the win over Kentucky two weeks ago meant to the program – and the Texas A&M win might be even sweeter.

Take into account the plenty festivities and traditions South Carolina has every game day, it’s no wonder each win in Williams-Brice Stadium feels like a party. In fact, the stadium was so loud that the South Carolina Emergency Management Division had to tweet out for people to stop calling after multiple people reported feeling an earthquake in the Columbia area.

“That was an awesome, awesome, awesome environment,” Beamer said. “I’m so happy for Gamecock nation. It’s been a long – however many, eight years since we beat those guys. So I want our fans to celebrate the heck out of that one.”

South Carolina will try to duplicate that environment this Saturday against the Missouri Tigers. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET with the SEC Network carrying the national broadcast.
