South Carolina's Cam Scott enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

South Carolina G Cam Scott enters his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
Scott just finished his freshman season in Columbia. In total, he made 26 appearances, all as a reserve off the bench, for the Gamecocks. During his ten minutes per game, Scott averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds.
Scott, a native of Lexington, South Carolina less than a half hour off campus, was a four-star prospect coming out of high school as the No. 20 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as the No. 1 player in the state and a Top-10 SG in the class. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That made him the program’s top-signee by far in the last recruiting class as another important hometown addition like the one two years prior in GG Jackson.
With that, Scott is the sixth departure during this portal cycle for the Gamecocks. Jamarii Thomas, Nick Pringle, Zachary Davis, Arden Conyers, and Austin Herro have also elected to transfer elsewhere with none having committed to a new program yet.

As for additions, though, South Carolina has done well so far with four additions. Treysen Eaglestaff (North Dakota), a Top-50 overall pickup per the latest from On3, has committed to them along with Christ Essandoko (Providence), Kobe Knox (South Florida), and the return of Meechie Johnson (Ohio State).
