South Carolina CB Emory Floyd plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

South Carolina cornerback Emory Floyd plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Floyd spent three total seasons with South Carolina but appeared in just seven games. He has two tackles and one pass deflection in his career.
As a member of the Class of 2022, Floyd was a four-star recruit out of Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 39 overall prospect in the state, the No. 38 cornerback in the class and the No. 399 overall prospect in the class.

With Floyd off to the portal, South Carolina saw the pros and cons of transferring. Louisville EDGE Demon Clowney recently committed to the Gamecocks, so he’s coming in! He is the younger cousin of former Gamecocks star Jadeveon Clowney.

Despite committing to Louisville in late December, but he never played a game for the Cardinals. In March, three months after his committment to the program, he re-entered the portal. He spent nearly a month looking for his new home in college football — and it appears that it will be in Columbia with the Gamecocks.
Clowney played the last two seasons at Charlotte as a standout EDGE as a member of the 49ers. This came after he spent three seasons in the SEC with Ole Miss.
In two seasons at Charlotte, Clowney played in 22 games and tallied 10.0 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. In his most recent season, in 2024, Clowney put up 26 tackles, 6.0 t ackles for a loss and 2.0 sacks. The year prior, in 2023, Demon Clowney logged 33 tackles, 4.0 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He’s a productive player off the edge.
