South Carolina defensive back Cam Smith exits Tennessee game late in first half with injury
South Carolina defensive back Cam Smith exited the Tennessee game on Saturday night grabbing his left hamstring with 12 seconds remaining in the first half. He was seen walking to the locker room early with training staff early to be medically evaluated. The Gamecocks currently lead fifth-ranked Tennessee 35-24 at the half. Smith did an excellent job in the first half on Tennessee’s all-world receiver, Jalin Hyatt. Hyatt hauled in six catches for 65 receiving yards and no touchdowns. If Smith has to miss time in the second half, that could spell trouble for the Gamecocks defense, since Hyatt is one of the most unstoppable receivers in college football.
South Carolina had some epic performances in the win
The Gamecocks ended up winning the game in blowout fashion, 63-38. The 63 points for South Carolina were the most scored by an unranked team against a Top 5 opponent in nearly 100 years.
South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler had the best performance of his college football career thus far, erupting for 438 passing yards and six touchdown passes. He completed 30 of his 37 pass attempts on his spectacular night. South Carolina receiver Antwane Wells, Jr. had an amazing performance–hauling in 11 catches for 177 receiving yards.
