South Carolina EDGE Elijah Davis enters NCAA transfer portal
South Carolina EDGE Elijah Davis has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Davis is a former JUCO player who joined the Gamecocks in January 2023. He appeared in just one game during the 2024 season.
Prior to that, Elijah Davis appeared in all 12 games during the 2023 campaign. He even made one start. He finished the season with six tackles and a quarterback hurry, with his high-water mark a three-tackle outing against Tennessee.
While the production at South Carolina didn’t necessarily match the hype going in, there will be plenty of teams out there that think they can unlock Davis’ considerable upside with a transfer.
As a recruit, Elijah Davis was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 3 JUCO player in the country during his cycle. He was the top JUCO defensive lineman and the No. 2 overall player in the state of Mississippi, hailing from Scooba (MS) EMCC.

Robby Ashford joins Elijah Davis in transfer portal
Elijah Davis isn’t the only South Carolina player to enter the NCAA transfer portal in recent days, as former Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford also entered after a brief stint in Columbia.
Ashford is on the move after spending one season at South Carolina where he served as the backup to Gamecocks star QB LaNorris Sellers. He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Auburn, prior to transferring to South Carolina.
Ashford appeared in eight games for the Gamecocks this season. He threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 227 yards and two scores.
The former Auburn product battled Sellers for the South Carolina starting quarterback job ahead of the 2024 season, before Sellers was eventually named the starter. Still, Ashford came up big for the Gamecocks at times, particularly when Sellers was injured.
On3’s Matt Connolly also contributed to this report.
