One commitment in a day is good, two is excellent and three is nearly unheard of. On Wednesday, South Carolina and Shane Beamer pulled off the trifecta by landing a trio of pledges for their 2024 recruiting class.

Three-star Charles Herbert Flowers (Md.) offensive tackle Mike Williams kicked things off by choosing the Gamecocks over offers from Miami, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, USC and more.

Just a few seconds later, four-star West Florence (S.C.) safety Kelvin Hunter added his name to the commit list as well, spurning Appalachian State, Auburn, Michigan and Virginia Tech in the process.

A few hours later, another blue-chipper came onto the board when Williams’ teammate, four-star cornerback Braydon Lee, announced his commitment as well.

The decisions give the Gamecocks 10 total commits in the 2024 cycle halfway through the month of April and also move them up one spot to No. 5 nationally in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

How South Carolina’s class is stacking up

South Carolina signed a top-20 class in the 2023 cycle and the Gamecocks look to be on their way to signing a class that finishes significantly higher than that.

Aside from four-star quarterback Dante Reno who announced his pledge last July, the remainder of South Carolina’s commitments have come this year.

In January, the Gamecocks picked up a trio of commitments from four-star offensive tackle Kam Pringle, four-star tight end Michael Smith and four-star linebacker Wendell Gregory. Four-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett announced his commitment to South Carolina on Feb. 3 and was the Gamecocks last commitment until the spring.

Three-star interior offensive lineman Blake Franks committed to South Carolina on March 31 and the Gamecocks landed their highest ranked commitment on April 14 in Josiah Thompson, the No. 21 overall prospect in the On300 rankings.
