The 87th Masters at Augusta National Golf Club ended Sunday with John Rahm putting on the green jacket, securing his second major championship victory of his career and his first Masters win. South Carolina football wanted in on the Masters action as well, and paid homage to one of the most iconic sporting events of the year with a hype video.

On Monday South Carolina’s football Twitter account posted a Masters themed highlight fresh off of the heels of the tournament. The video relives one of the most memorable moments from their football season last year, wide receiver Xavier Legette‘s 100-yard kickoff return to open up the game in their 30-24 win over Texas A&M.

On the call, former South Carolina quarterback and current play by play announcer Todd Ellis took over and did his best Jim Nantz impression, imitating the voice of the Masters in his remixed version of the call that can be seen below.

South Carolina’s account captioned the video, “Anything can be a Masters Moment … if you just believe.”

Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer also made an appearance at the Masters last week, taking his son Hunter along with him be a part of one of the most historic weeks across the entire sports landscape. Beamer sat down with ESPN’s Marty Smith at the Masters, and even shared a special moment between last year’s winner and his son.

“It was amazing. We were standing there. And my son’s getting into golf and is a big fan of a lot of these guys. He likes Scottie Scheffler. And an unbelievably kind security guard came up and asked, ‘Are you waiting on a particular golfer?’. We said Scottie Scheffler. Then he said come here and he took my son right in the front row of the twelfth tee box,” Beamer said. He got a front-row seat as Scottie came down eleven and got ready to tee off. After he hit his tee shot on twelve, the security guard went and picked up the divet and the tee, gave it to my son. And he’s still walking around with that in a cup right now.”

Scheffler tied for a tenth place finish at this year’s Masters, but still provided Beamer and his son with a memory they’ll never forget.

The Gamecocks spring game is scheduled for this Saturday April 15, putting a bow on spring practice this offseason for South Carolina in their third season under Beamer.
