South Carolina hosting North Texas transfer RB Oscar Adaway for visit

South Carolina is in the market for a running back after losing leading rusher Mario Anderson to the transfer portal. There appears to be some mutual interest between North Texas back Oscar Adaway and the Gamecocks.

Adaway is visiting South Carolina on Friday, according to Steve Wiltfong.

Wiltfong added that the Gamecocks are “a program to watch.”

Oscar Adaway rushed for 738 yards and six touchdowns in 2023, while averaging 6 yards per carry. He also had 14 catches for 89 yards.

Adaway is ranked as the No. 15 running back in the transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry transfer portal rankings.

He signed with North Texas in the class of 2019 and redshirted his first year on campus. In 2020, Adaway rushed for 572 yards and three scores. He then had a setback in 2021, missing the entire season after suffering a torn ACL during the preseason.

Adaway appeared in nine games, making two starts, in 2022. He rushed for 583 yards and five scores, before putting together an excellent season in 2023.
