South Carolina guard Arden Conyers plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per David Bentley. Conyers spent two seasons with the Gamecocks, including a redshirt season last year.

Conyers made 23 appearances this season. He averaged 4.3 points and 1.2 points in 13.6 minutes per game while shooting 30.8% from the field and 28.8% from beyond the arc.

The 6-foot-7 redshirt freshman had his best game of the season in South Carolina’s 66-63 loss to Auburn on Jan. 11, when he tallied a career-high 13 points on 3-6 shooting from downtown. Now, Conyers will look to reach his potential elsewhere.

Arden Conyers played high school basketball at Westwood (SC), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 232 overall player and No. 52 shooting guard in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Conyers was an all-region and all-state selection as a senior at Westwood after averaging 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. For his efforts, he was McDonald’s All-American nominee.

South Carolina guard Austin Herro enters the transfer portal

Conyers isn’t the only Gamecock entering the transfer portal this offseason. On Thursday, redshirt freshman guard Austin Herro entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He is the younger brother of NBA All-Star Tyler Herro, who played college basketball at Kentucky.

In Austin Herro’s lone season with the Gamecocks, he made 10 appearances. However, he typically only got into games in the closing moments and never played more than three minutes in a single game this season. Herro only scored two points this season on just two total field-goal attempts.

Austin Herro played high school basketball at Whitnall (WI). There, he was an unranked prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In his senior year at Whitnall, Herro led his team to a 25-4 record and state championship appearance after averaging 14.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He shot 45% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc.

At 6-foot-3, Austin Herro is several inches shorter than his older brother. In January, South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris discussed Herro’s lack of playing time.

“I gave him a hard time, only because the things he got hurt on while he was out there — that’s a tough spot to be in,” Paris said after South Carolina’s loss against Oklahoma. “… He hasn’t played at all in a meaningful game, then you’re going to come out on the road at Oklahoma in the first half. That’s hard, but hopefully there will be some things he can learn from there.”
