South Carolina has its biggest recruiting weekend of the summer coming up this weekend. While several of their upcoming visitors have already committed to the Gamecocks, there are just as many who haven’t.

Arguably their biggest visitor of the weekend, On3 No. 1 recruit Dylan Stewart will return to Columbia one more time before his senior year kicks off.

On the latest edition of the On3 Roundtable, South Carolina recruiting insider Wes Mitchell explains why this visit for Stewart is so important to the Gamecocks.

“It’s definitely planned because you look at Dylan Stewart being on campus several other of their top remaining targets and then eight committed guys,” Mitchell said. “Pretty much anybody that has not taken their official visit, that’s on that committed list is gonna be in this weekend. You hear Shane Beamer talk about family and you hear you know the talk about guys like Dante Reno, Kam Pringle and Mazeo Bennett all putting in effort and energy to recruit other guys to join this class. I think this is a continuation of that.

“Dylan Stewart’s been on campus several times already but they’re gonna do everything they can to try to make this weekend special and make it a little bit different than all those unofficial visits that he’s taken already.”

Gamecocks will also look to impress 4-star athlete Daniel Hill

While Stewart may be South Carolina’s biggest overall visitor this weekend, Mitchell noted some other top recruits who are also high on the Gamecocks’ board.

One of those visitors is four-star athlete Daniel Hill. Currently the Gamecocks have the second-highest odds of landing his pledge according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Hill is the No. 202 overall prospect and No. 7 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Mississippi.

“He’s listed as a four-star athlete by On3 but he is a running back all the way for South Carolina,” Mitchell said. “Hill has kind of emerged as one of their top overall targets period. They’ve been on him for so long and they need difference makers at running back just to be honest. They’ve battled Alabama, battled Tennessee and it’s been a true sec competition for him.

“He’s a guy that’s been on campus a couple of times already ready has kind of circled this official visit as being a big weekend for him. If you’re South Carolina, he is one that you are hoping you can kind of get this thing locked down and get this thing finished off this weekend because he is fresh off of an Alabama official visit from this past weekend as well.”
