Following South Carolina’s win on Saturday, Shane Beamer had the latest on four different pass catchers for their offense.

During his postgame press conference after winning over Wofford, Beamer had updates on two receivers in Jared Brown and Vandrevius Jacobs along with two tight ends in Josh Simon and Mike Smith.

Beamer began with Brown, who has 12 receptions on the year for 203 yards and a touchdown, as he should be good to go after not appearing in this one in recovering from an issue with his hand.

“Yeah, Jared Brown should be fine,” said Beamer. “He actually had a little bit of a hand injury last week against Missouri. He’ll be fine for next week.”

From there, Beamer wasn’t fully as optimistic regarding the other three.

With Jacobs, he left the game, with one reception for five yards before that, with a hamstring injury as the only one of these four to play against the Terriers. Now, with a dozen catches of his own for 181 yards, his status is unknown going into this week.

“‘Dre? I’m not sure about,” Beamer. “It was a little bit of a hamstring on that when he got hurt.”

Finally, Beamer said both tight ends in Simon, who is the Gamecocks’ leading receiver with 31 catches for 433 yards and sic touchdowns, and Smith, who also has nine catches for 96 yards and a score, were undetermined as well.

“Josh? We’ll see. And then Mike Smith? We’ll see,” Beamer said.

In total, these four have a total of 64 receptions for 913 yards and eight touchdowns. That accounts for 34.2% of their catches, 36.8% of their yardage, and 40% of their scores in the pass game on offense with most of that coming from Simon.

The Gamecocks will now hope to have several of them available in time for kickoff at Clemson come Saturday.
