Vanderbilt wide receiver Jayden McGowan has committed to South Carolina, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. McGowan confirmed the news in a quote tweet on Wednesday afternoon.

McGowan caught 36 passes for 383 yards in 2023 in 12 games. He didn’t have a touchdown after scoring three as a promising true freshman. McGowan was listed as the No. 49 available wide receiver in the transfer portal.

McGowan played high school football at Laurens District 55 (S.C.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 858 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

McGowan visited South Carolina this past weekend. Upon entering the portal, the sophomore posted a heartfelt message on social media.

“I want to thank God for the opportunity and also Vanderbilt University for giving me the chance to play the game I love at the collegiate level. Thank you to all the coaches, staff members, and teammates for the fun memories,” McGowan said in his announcement. “I had fun playing my first two seasons at Vanderbilt, but it’s time for me to move on a new chapter in life. With that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal.”
