South Carolina offensive lineman Grayson Mains enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

South Carolina Gamecocks offensive lineman Grayson Mains has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Grayson Mains spent two seasons with the Gamecocks, playing primarily as an interior offensive lineman. He took a redshirt as a freshman in 2022 but started to see more action during the 2023 season. Still, he was primarily a second string center for the Gamecocks.

It was a frustrating season for South Carolina. The Gamecocks went just 5-7 and 3-5 in SEC play. The offensive line, in particular, garnered plenty of criticism. South Carolina finished 119th in the country in sacks allowed, giving up 3.42 sacks per game while the Gamecocks were 129th in rushing offense, with just 85.08 yards rushing per game. Not all of that is the offensive line’s fault or the fault of an individual lineman, but it was a major issue.

Grayson Mains played high school football at Lambert (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 761 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In 2022-23, Grayson Mains was named SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
