South Carolina quarterback Luke Doty suffered a foot injury in Friday’s practice. It is currently unclear how long he will be out for, but this is not the news head coach Shane Beamer was looking for as he starts his tenure with the Gamecocks.
It is currently unclear how much time Doty will miss
Columbia-area TV reporter Mike Uva initially reported Doty’s injury mid-day on Saturday.
“I can confirm that South Carolina QB Luke Doty did injure his foot at practice yesterday after being stepped on, according to team sources,” Uva tweeted. “I’m waiting to confirm the severity of the injury.”
Uva later posted an update on Twitter, saying that Doty has a mid-foot fracture and minor ligament damage.
“Update: Luke Doty has a mid-foot fracture & minor ligament damage after getting inadvertently stepped on late in practice yesterday,” he tweeted. “X-rays, MRI & CAT scan will be evaluated by outside team consultants to see what extra protocols, if any, are warranted, according to team sources.”
