South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler has announced that he will enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
The decision comes after Rattler put together arguably the most productive year of his career, throwing for 3,186 yards and 19 touchdowns, while also rushing for four scores.
“I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft,” Rattler wrote on Instagram. “This has been a dream and goal of mine since I was a little kid and cannot wait for the chance to turn my dream into reality.”
Rattler arrived at South Carolina in 2022 after transferring in from Oklahoma. But he didn’t immediately see the kind of success he had probably hoped for.
After throwing for more than 4,500 yards in two years at Oklahoma with 39 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions, Rattler struggled a bit in his first season at South Carolina.
Interceptions were an issue, with Rattler throwing 12 against 18 touchdowns. But he improved considerably this fall, throwing 19 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
Now he’ll look to take his game to the next level, thanking several people on his way out the door.
“These two years have been by far the best times of my football life,” Spencer Rattler wrote. “The relationships made with my teammates, the big wins together, and getting to experience this great city of Columbia and the best fan base in college football each and every weekend.
“I want to thank coach (Shane) Beamer for bringing me here to South Carolina and letting me be a part of this family. His support and vision for this program and its players is something special. I want to thank coach (Dowell) Loggains for all of the support and being a great coach for me throughout this year.
“To my teammates, I loved being around you guys every single day and competing every Saturday. Those memories will forever be with me and we will have lifelong relationships.”

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.
Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.
The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.
The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
