Spencer Rattler‘s collegiate career comes to an end this season, with South Carolina‘s 16-7 loss to rival Clemson to end the regular season representing the final college game for the Gamecocks quarterback.

Rattler may have only spent two seasons in Columbia, but that didn’t stop him from leaving a big mark on the program and providing plenty of memorable moments. With that in mind, Rattler was asked what his best memories will be when he looks back on his time with South Carolina following his final game with the program.

“I think just being around the guys, obviously we’ve had a lot of big wins. Last year Tennessee, Clemson, Kentucky, [Texas] A&M. This year, having a clutch win last week vs. Kentucky, and even some of the losses, the battles we’ve had,” Rattler said. “I’m gonna remember everything.”

Last season likely provides not just Rattler, but many Gamecocks’ fans with some of their fondest moments surrounding the program in recent history.

Rattler led the Gamecocks to an 8-5 finish in 2022 in his first season with the program, marking the team’s best record since 2017. They ended the year with a bang, defeating two Top-10-ranked opponents as underdogs to put an exclamation point on a memorable regular season.

He threw for a school-record six touchdown passes in a 63-38 win over No. 5 ranked Tennessee, followed by a one-point win over No. 8 Clemson to snap a seven-game losing streak against their in-state rival.

Rattler wasn’t able to lead the Gamecocks to a win in this year’s Palmetto Rivalry matchup, but as he looks back on his career he’s found a way to embrace the losses. And most importantly enjoy his time off the field with his teammates, making memories that will last forever.

“But mainly just being around the guys, being around the team, being in the quarterback room just joking for hours with each other with D-Lo and just having fun,” Rattler said. “This is the best times of our lives, like we said, we were talking as seniors last night to the team and times you’ll remember forever is this time right now.”

“No matter what it was record-wise, we all enjoyed every single moment here and it’s been awesome.”

In just two seasons with South Carolina Rattler goes down in history as the program’s fifth-leading passer all-time with 6,212 yards, with his most recent 3,186-yard passing season also ranking fourth all-time for a single season.
