Former South Carolina receiver Kelton Henderson has entered the transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Henderson is in the portal after being dismissed from the Gamecocks team in March. He appeared in two games last season but did not record a catch.

Kelton Henderson is originally from Fort Myers, Florida. The class of 2023 prospect was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America game coming out of high school.

Henderson was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 87 receiver in the country coming out of high school, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer did not get into details as far as why Henderson was dismissed from the team, but he did speak about the decision.

“That was our decision,” Beamer said. “Think a lot of Kelton. Wish him well. But there’s an expectation level of how we’re going to do things in this program, inside this building and outside this building. And just a body of work that wasn’t what we wanted, as well. And care about him, want to help him in anyway. Told him I would call anybody for him. He’s a guy that has ability and will be pulling for him. But just won’t be here.”

Former South Carolina wide receiver O’Mega Blake enters NCAA Transfer Portal

In addition to Kelton Henderson, another former South Carolina receiver entered the transfer portal earlier this week in O’Mega Blake.

Blake, who previously transferred to East Carolina, entered the portal on Wednesday.

He had just transferred to ECU back in January, but decided to hit the portal again after spring practice wrapped up. Blake spent most of the last month working with the second-team offense, behind wideouts like Anthony Smith, Kelan Robinson, and Chase Sowell, according to Stephen Igoe of Hoist The Colours.

Before transferring to ECU, Blake spent time with the South Carolina Gamecocks. He won an award for being one of the most improved players on the South Carolina offense in spring of 2023.

Now, he’ll be looking for his third home in the transfer portal. The spring transfer portal window opened on Tuesday, April 16th, and runs for two weeks, through April 30th. The 6-foot-2, 172-pound wideout flashed ability in ECU’s Purple-Gold Spring Game this past weekend, hauling in a few nice catches.

ECU finished 2-10 overall on the 2023 campaign. South Carolina finished 5-7 overall last year, including 3-5 in the SEC.

He spent three years with the Gamecocks, appearing in 16 career games with four starts. Blake hauled in 20 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns during his time there. He also hauled in a career-high five catches for 86 yards against Georgia. Blake also hauled in a 26-yard touchdown catch against Vanderbilt late in the fourth quarter. He saw limited action in 2022.
