The video quickly shows Rattler walking into smoke from a smoke machine while a version of Jay-Z’s Public Service Announcement plays over the video — before Rattler “re-introduces” himself to the college football world as a Gamecock.

South Carolina football shared the hype video on social media, giving fans a great look at their new quarterback as fans continue to build hope for a fantastic year across all Gamecocks sports teams. With the women’s basketball team and coach Dawn Staley winning a national title in March, the addition of Rattler to the football program and the recent commitment of GG Jackson to the basketball program have created an air of excitement around the school.

The Gamecocks football program saw a huge improvement under coach Shane Beamer, with his first season resulting in a five-win improvement and a victory over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Despite having a down year for the Sooners last year, Rattler has shown elite arm talent at the college level. Rattler has played in 23 games over the past three seasons at Oklahoma under head coach Lincoln Riley, posting a 15-2 record as a starter. He completed 70.1 percent of his passes (361-for-515) for 4,595 yards with 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. And prior to last season, he was widely viewed as one of the top Heisman-hopefuls. Heading into this season, Rattler has made the Maxwell Award Watch List again.

Rattler seems to have embraced wearing the Gamecocks uniform and buying into the culture quickly, as GG Jackson’s recent decision to join South Carolina and decommit from rival North Carolina was at least in part because of his meeting with Rattler during a visit. Rattler helped recruit Jackson, selling him on the culture and vision that the athletics programs are building.
