South Carolina unveils new uniforms to be worn on Sept. 21 vs. Akron
South Carolina football unveiled some new uniforms, set to debut in September, in a short hype video on Saturday afternoon. And the new threads are a simplified look for the Gamecocks.
Various elements get shown off in the brief video, tracked by a remix of Billy Squier’s “The Stroke.” There’s the blocky garnet and black stripes running up and down the outside of the pants, and stars adorning players hips and to either side of tri-color helmet stripe.
And the jerseys are a simple garnet, with “CAROLINA” splashed across the chest in block white letters.
The white collar also makes for a nice contrast with the garnet facemask, drawing the eyes to the stars and thick helmet stripe just above.
The jerseys will apparently debut on Sept. 21, when South Carolina hosts Akron.
The Gamecocks are debuting a new quarterback in 2024, too
LaNorris Sellers has already developed quite a bit over just a lone season in college so far. It’s now about how he takes another step as a redshirt freshman and, as of now, the likely starting quarterback for South Carolina.
Sellers spoke about his growth as a player during a media availability early on in training camp. To this point, he thought where he has grown the most was in learning at this level.
“I’d say knowledge and communication are the two biggest things I’ve improved on since last year,” said Sellers.

Now, going into this season, Sellers wants to continue to iron out the details in his game and at the position. He highlighted his work in the pocket as one of those basics that he’s getting down.
“Something I can work is probably just, like, smaller things, the fundamentals of it,” said Sellers. “Staying calm in the pocket, just keep going through my progressions – things like that.”
Sellers was the backup behind Spencer Rattler last yearin his collegiate debut. In that time, he appeared in three games and has completed all four of his throws for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed five times for 51 yards and another score.
Sellers has since left the spring and entered the fall as the leading quarterback in the competition for the Gamecocks.
There’s still a lot of steps left in Sellers’ maturation based on his age alone if not his potential too. That’s what he and South Carolina will be trying to tap into now over practice this month and games this season as their projected starter.
