Spencer Rattler had the game of his life against Tennessee over the weekend. The South Carolina quarterback was sensational in the Gamecock’s 63-38 shocker over the Volunteers on Saturday night. Some nights you just have it but, from what Rattler said, he felt that performance coming in the week leading up to the game as well as the night before.

Rattler spoke about the show he put on following the win over the Vols. He said practice this week and the way he felt Friday night before the game gave him all the confidence he could’ve needed.

“It was two days ago. This whole week of practice. I got to the hotel (Friday) night. I got to dinner and I was just like, ‘I can feel it. This is gonna be a huge, huge game,'” said Rattler. “I talked to (Antwane Wells Jr.) that morning and I said, ‘I’m gonna throw you the ball like 15 times. Come up with a lot of them.’ And he came up with a lot of them…It was crazy, man. I don’t know what else to say. It was amazing.”

Rattler had the best stat line of his career in the upset win in Columbia. He tied a career-high with 30 completions overall that led to career-bests of 438 yards and six touchdowns. It was also one of the most efficient nights of his college football career with an 81.1% completion rate.

Tennessee’s defense didn’t offer much resistance but, in the end, it was just Rattler and the Gamecock’s night. It led to the defining moment of Shane Beamer’s time at South Carolina so far, but they’re not done yet. Now, Rattler is hoping for a repeat performance against another Top-10 team when they head to Clemson on Saturday.
