Former five-star quarterback and one-time No. 1 pick favorite Spencer Rattler is far from the only talented piece in Columbia. South Carolina’s transfer QB loves the roster he’s joined. The Gamecocks aren’t a quarterback-exclusive show like, maybe, Rattler’s former school. No. This is the SEC, where the average team is littered with blue-chip recruits on both sides of the ball.

Rattler shared recently just how impressive South Carolina’s team is from top to bottom, in every phase of the game. You can watch his comments on the Gamecocks roster right here around the 9:45-mark or read his brief comments below.

“One of the things I’m most excited about is to, you know, show everybody how good these guys really are. I mean, we got so many good players on this team. On offense, defense, special teams, you name it, we got it. We got great players and they’re definitely going to play hard and show out. My job just to get the ball in their hands, get the ball in the playmakers’ hands and let them do the work, you know. Everything else will take care of itself, but you know, we got a great group and, like I said, we’re all excited to get out there and hopefully show out.”

A lot of praise from Rattler on the whole team. Time for them to prove it.

Rattler reveals what a successful Week 1 would look like for South Carolina offense

Spencer Rattler also discussed what he believes success will look like in Week 1 versus the team’s Sun Belt opponent during his press conference.

“We’re not going to put like a number on it or a goal on it. We just want to go out there and execute, every drive and every play,” Rattler said. “We just want to focus on us. And obviously, score as many times as we can. Protect the ball, that’s what it comes down to.”

The Gamecocks finished the 2021 season with the second-lowest scoring average amongst SEC teams, putting up just 22.6 points per game. Rattler, now considered a veteran player, should impact the team’s productivity in a major way in comparison to the patchwork situation Shane Beamer had last season.

“We just want to go out there and execute on every level, we want to dominate,” Rattler said. “That’s what we want to do. We want to go out there and not react, but do what we do and get into ’em.”
