Apparently, the South Carolina Gamecocks didn’t appreciate the Las Vegas oddsmakers’ take on their matchup versus Texas A&M. After the game, starting quarterback Spencer Rattler discussed the disrespect the team felt heading into the home game in which they were 3.5-point underdogs.

A score in the fourth quarter gave the Gamecocks a 30-24 victory, their fifth of the season and second in conference play.

“It’s a great feeling, every home game, we do have the advantage,” Rattler said. “This game, coming in, we were the underdog at home. We took that to offense. We showed how a home advantage can be real and we definitely appreciate that.”

Rattler threw just 12 completions for 168 yards on Saturday but with 118 yards and three scores from the run game, the Gamecocks managed to top the struggling Aggies.

On the season, the South Carolina quarterback has passed for 1,466 passing yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions, and rushed for a touchdown as well.

For their Week 9 matchup, again at home, versus the Missouri Tigers, the Gamecocks are 6-point favorites.

Gamecocks earn top-25 ranking for first time since 2018

For the first time in over four years, South Carolina finds itself in the AP top 25.

The last time South Carolina was ranked was in the Sept. 4, 2018 version of the poll after a season-opening win against Coastal Carolina. Then-No. 24 South Carolina lost to Georgia the following week and they haven’t been ranked since.

Now at No. 25, South Carolina earned their ranking with a four-game win streak after starting 1-2 on the year. They have won four straight, including consecutive SEC games at Kentucky and at home versus Texas A&M on Saturday night. It is the longest win streak since 2013.

“It’s a little over a month ago we sat in here after the Georgia game and got asked if I sensed any quit in this football team. Does that look like this team quit?” Shane Beamer said in his post-game press conference.

“Since that day we’ve won four straight for the first time since 2013. We just beat Kentucky on the road in Lexington for the first time since 2012. Then we just beat Texas A&M for the first time ever. So no, there’s no quit in this team. We have a bunch of freaking fighters on this team.”

SBeamer and the Gamecocks host Missouri for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network next weekend. Then, they travel to Vanderbilt in the first weekend of November.
