South Carolina is set to receive a visit from a talented player in the NCAA transfer portal, Tulane guard Kolby King.

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, King will visit the Gamecocks this weekend as he continues to suss out his options in the NCAA transfer portal. King is currently on a visit to Dayton.

The Green Wave standout had a breakout season as a sophomore in 2023-24 after making minimal contributions as a freshman.

King averaged 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game, playing in 31 games and starting 23 of them. He averaged 27.4 minutes per game.

A solid defender, King also showed a nice shooting stroke from the perimeter. He finished his sophomore season hitting at a 37.9% clip from 3-point range on a total of 103 attempts.

He’d be a valuable addition for the Gamecocks, who are coming off a terrific second season under coach Lamont Paris.

Prior to enrolling at Tulane, Kolby King was a three-star prospect and the No. 264 overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

South Carolina lands a Missouri transfer

Former Missouri forward Jordan Butler has committed to South Carolina, via the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3’s Joe Tipton has learned. Butler only spent one season with the Tigers.

In Butler’s lone season at Mizzou, he made 31 appearances and 14 starts. The 7-footer averaged 2.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 39.7% from he field and 16.0% from beyond the arc.

Jordan Butler played high school basketball at Christ Church Episcopal School (SC), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 93 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Butler originally chose Missouri over Auburn and South Carolina. Butler’s mother played at South Carolina and both of his parents graduated from the university. He is the younger brother of former Florida State forward John Butler.
