Vicari Swain in 'great standing' with South Carolina, Shane Beamer reveals

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer said Vicari Swain is in “great standing” with the program after handling some academic situations. The safety is ready to rejoin the team very soon.
Swain did play in 13 games last season, receiving a bigger role than his freshman season in 2023. He finished with 13 total tackles, one tackles for loss, one sack, one pass deflection and one forced fumble.
As far as what’s next, it seems to be all systems go. Now, it’s just a matter of time Swain rejoins the team, according to Beamer.
“He’s in great standing with the team right now,” Beamer said. “He’s taking care of some academic responsibilities and expect him back sooner than later, and nothing that will deter him from being able to play this season.”
As a member of the Class of 2023, Swain was a four-star recruit out of Carrollton (Ga.) Central, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 19 overall prospect in the state, the No. 5 athlete in the class and the No. 204 overall prospect in the class.
Shane Beamer explains lack of television for Spring Game
Shane Beamer is of the mind that South Carolina will do a behind-closed-doors type of spring game this year. The Gamecocks won’t have it televised in 2025.

“If all of you guys are recruits for us, we can let you know when this show is coming on, and you can watch this and learn a lot about our football program,” Beamer said. “It would probably be more impactful from a recruiting standpoint than watching a two-hour spring game on television.”
If other teams aren’t showcasing their spring game on television, then Beamer doesn’t want South Carolina on the screen. He cited competitive advantages.
“From a competitive standpoint, if there’s a spring game on television, we tape it and we watch it, and that’s how we can watch personnel,” Beamer said. “We could watch their spring game and just kind of get an idea about personnel and who’s lined up where, and things like that as well …
“As long as we have healthy bodies, I want to have two teams and play as much like a game as we possibly can. Now, are you going to see LaNorris Sellers in the fourth quarter? Probably not. But would he be in the spring game and playing some? Yeah.”
