WATCH: Shane Beamer shows off 'elite' tennis, javelin skills in blooper-reel clip
Shane Beamer’s first season as South Carolina’s head football coach was a pretty successful one. South Carolina went 7-6 to begin Beamer’s tenure, including a 38-21 victory over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
While Beamer had success on the field, his first season at South Carolina will also be remembered for some of the fun moments that happened off the field. He took a mayonnaise bath after winning the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. On Monday, South Carolina’s Associate Athletics Director for New and Creative Media, Justin King, tweeted a video of Beamer, sharing a ton of bloopers and fun moments with the Gamecocks’ coach.
“Y’all should ALSO know that there is NEVER a boring day working with @CoachSBeamer,” King tweeted.
In the video, Beamer can be seen showcasing his “skills” in a number of different activities. Beamer rides a bike throughout South Carolina’s facilities, plays tennis, and even shows off his ability to javelin throw.
Beamer responded to King’s video on Monday night, joking that he thought the video was never going to be seen again.

“Come on @JustinKing!! Thought we were boys?? You were supposed to burn the javelin video,” Beamer tweeted.
Beamer reveals plans for South Carolina transfers
Since the season ended, Beamer has picked up a number of notable transfers. The biggest player Beamer got was former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler. Rattler, a former Heisman favorite, will be the Gamecocks’ new starting quarterback next season. Along with Rattler, Beamer and South Carolina added Oklahoma tight end Austin Stogner, Wake Forest running back Christian Beal-Smith, James Madison receiver Antwane Wells Jr., Central Michigan safety Devonni Reed, and NC State defensive end Terrell Dawkins.
Beamer recently addressed the plan for getting all of the Gamecocks’ new faces to campus.
“The transfers that you guys have read about most recently — they are all in the process of getting here,” Beamer said. “Should be here in the next few days if they’re not here already. Austin Stogner still has a couple of classes he has to finish at Oklahoma so he’s got to finish that up this spring. Spencer (Rattler) is taking care of some loose ends in Arizona and isn’t on campus today but will be here soon. Other than the high school guys that didn’t enroll midyear, we should have everybody here pretty soon.”
Beamer and South Carolina will be tested early on in the 2022 season. After facing Georgia State in Week 1, the Gamecocks have matchups against Arkansas and Georgia in Weeks 2 and 3.
