St. John's guard Simeon Wilcher enters Transfer Portal

St. John’s Red Storm guard Simeon Wilcher has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. This comes after St. John’s suffered an upset loss in the Round of 32 in this season’s NCAA Tournament.
Simeon Wilcher played his high school basketball at Roselle Catholic in New Jersey. There, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 36th-ranked player overall and the sixth-ranked shooting guard in that recruiting cycle. On3’s national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw broke down what he saw from Wilcher during his high school career.
“This season Wilcher has played with a sense of fearlessness,” Shaw wrote. “He has a good frame and is an athletic, aggressive downhill scorer. Wilcher has played a lot as the primary initiator this high school season, but he is wired to score. He has a nice pull-up jumper that can get streaky – but still a threat – from beyond the arc. Wilcher has upside as a defensive stopper. Would like to see him survey the floor better with the ball in his hands and shoot it more cleanly when off the ball. Wilcher has the natural tools you cannot teach and things seem to all be coming together for him this high school year.”
In two seasons at St. John’s, Simeon Wilcher became a key player for St. John’s. He’s appeared in 64 total games over the past two years, starting in 27 of them. That includes 25 starts in the 2024-25 season where he averaged 25.4 minutes per game.

This past season, Wilcher averaged 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He also shot 40.7 percent from the field, 29.7 percent from three-point range, and 73.7 percent from the free-throw line. On the defensive end, he would average 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks per game.
St. John’s, as a team, is coming off an excellent season. The Red Storm, now in their second season under legendary head coach Rick Pitino, went 31-5 overall and 18-2 in Big East play. They won the Big East as well, both in the regular season and the conference tournament. However, St. John’s did have its season cut short by a second round upset in the NCAA Tournament to Arkansas.
