Former Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey has hilarious response to request to sign USC hat
Christian McCaffrey is as sharp as it gets and not just on the football field. Taking a break from scoring a touchdown on what seems to be a weekly basis, the 49ers running back took some time to sign gear for Fanatics. Most of the gear was San Francisco related but the people behind the scenes did try to pull a fast one.
Spending his college days at Stanford, McCaffrey endured a ton of success. The height, personally and as a team, came during the 2015 season when the Cardinal won the Pac-12 Championship against USC. A huge rivalry in the state of California, neither program liked playing the other, especially when David Shaw was running the program in Palo Alto.
Well, when signing a few hats, Fanatics attempted to get McCaffrey to sign one with a USC logo. He instantly noticed and asked, βWhat the hell?β Originally saying he would not sign the hat, he had a change of heart but decided to have some fun with it.
McCaffrey decided to put the final score up of the Pac-12 Championship, a game Stanford won 41-22. He also put his stats from the night, going for 207 rushing yards and another 105 yards through the air. Even a passing touchdown was recorded, with Stanford having a great night all around.

The funniest part of the video may have come at the end, with McCaffery circling and crossing out the hatβs logo. A genuine moment and one of why college rivalries can be fun, even in a setting of a professional running back signing autographs.

Unfortunately, the Stanford-USC on-field rivalry does not have plans to continue in the near future. The Trojans are off the the Big Ten for next season, being the beginning of the end for the Pac-12. As a result, Stanford will be heading out East and joining the ACC alongside Cal.
McCaffrey spent just three seasons in college but wound up going 3-1 against USC. Now, with the 49ers, there is a chance some Trojan fans are cheering for him in the NFL. Unless they are Los Angeles Rams fans, then they still have to watch him as an NFC West opponent.
49ers gear works and McCaffrey still loves his Stanford roots. But no more autographs on USC memorabilia or you may get something similar to that USC hat.
