4-star linebacker David Bailey commits to Stanford

Four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei linebacker David Bailey has committed to Stanford, he announced early Sunday morning.
Bailey is the No. 90 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 8 linebacker and and No. 5 player in the state of California.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder chose the Cardinal over more than a dozen other offers, including USC, UCLA, Oregon, and others. He is Stanford’s No. 21 commit in the 2022 cycle, joining four-stars Ernest Cooper IV, Kamari Ramsey, and five other prospects ranked in the top 450 nationally.

Bailey took official visits to both Cal and Stanford in June, then visited USC and UCLA in October. USC’s recent hiring of Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley caused some to consider the Trojans the favorite to land Bailey, but ultimately Stanford won out.
Despite the program’s worst regular season record in a decade, David Shaw and Co. have amassed the nation’s No. 17 recruiting class, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. David Bailey is the Cardinal’s highest-ranked recruit among their 2022 commit.
