Stanford offers On3 4-star LB Ashton Woods
Marietta (Ga.) Walton four-star linebacker Ashton Woods received an offer from Stanford on Thursday. He announced the news over social media.
Woods is the No. 463 overall prospect and No. 48 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 55 player in Georgia and a three-star recruit.
On3 rates Woods higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2024 On300, Woods is a four-star recruit, the No. 32 linebacker in the country and No. 37 player in Georgia.
“I’m starting to narrow it down here soon in probably the next couple of weeks, that’s probably the next step for me,” Woods told On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Feb. 15. “Then the decision process starts this summer, maybe a little bit earlier.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defender holds 27 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Auburn has a close lead for his commitment at 21.9%.
Woods breaks down some of his schools of interest
Woods is interested in the Tigers. A key reason why is head coach Hugh Freeze.
“Coach Freeze has had success at every place that he’s been to,” Woods said. “I feel like Auburn is going to be on the (rise), like a rocket, and go up fast. Their recruits, I feel like they’re going to do really good.”
Woods told Johnson that he plans to see Auburn, Baylor and Tennessee. He has already locked in visits to Wake Forest (March 16) and Virginia (March 24). North Carolina is another program of interest.

The Georgia native discussed with Johnson why he likes some of these programs.
Baylor: “I really like coach (Christian) Robinson. When he was at Auburn, he was the coach that offered me. He moved to Baylor. I’ve got family down there in Dallas. That’s an hour away. I feel like the state of Texas is a really nice place.”
North Carolina: “I love UNC. The relationship just keeps building. It’s built with coach (Tommy) Thigpin, Lonnie (Galloway), the recruiting coordinator and the receivers coach, but he’s always reaching out and checking on us. I’ve started talking to coach (Gene) Chizik and even Mack Brown.”
Tennessee: “I love coach (Brian) Jean-Mary. Coach (Josh) Heupel is a really good dude. He’s a lot like what coach Freeze was when he was getting in there two years ago. Now, he’s going to just keep shooting up. Who knows, they’ll probably beat Georgia here in the next few years.”
Virginia: “I love coach (Clint) Sintim and coach (Chris) Slade. They always reach out to me every day just to see how I’m doing. They’re really good people.”
