On300 safety Izayia Williams commits to Syracuse
Syracuse’s fast start in the 2026 recruiting cycle continued this week with another commitment from a Sunshine State blue-chipper.
Following a visit over the weekend, Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares On300 safety Izayia Williams is the latest to join the fold for first-year head coach Fran Brown and the Orange staff.
“Syracuse I like it because they are not just preparing you for football but after football also,” Williams told On3.
Tabbed by On3 as the nation’s No. 5 safety and No. 49 prospect overall in the 2026 cycle, he is the second Top100 prospect to join the fold alongside athlete Demetres Samuel out of Palm Bay (Fla.) Heritage. Samuel is On3’s No. 77 ranked prospect.

The 6-foot 1/2, 210-pound Williams chose Syracuse over an offer list that included Ole Miss, Louisville, Iowa State and USF. He could play linebacker/edge on the next level.
“Coach Fran is a great person,” Williams said. “I like how he keeps everything real and Coach (Thomas) Caporale has been recruiting me really hard. He’s a great person and the defensive staff is very great. I feel like that’s the right program for me.
“The whole football facility did feels like a good place for me.”
As a sophomore Williams registered 40 tackles including six stops for loss, two sacks, three passes defended, two forced fumbles and an interceptions.
Syracuse is also rolling in the 2025 class with 13 early commitments.
“I felt like Syracuse is the right place and the coaches are some of the best.”
