The winner will get washed, but not of eggnog should Syracuse win the Holiday Bowl on Friday.

The winning head coach in the Holiday Bowl gets a victorious dousing in eggnog, adding to the bowl tradition of postgame food baths. But Syracuse’s Fran Brown will have to abstain.

That is because the Orange head coach has an egg allergy, he revealed at a press conference the day before the matchup against Washington State. Should Syracuse be victorious on Friday evening, Brown said he will have a stand in for the Orange, and he’ll help pour the holiday beverage over the lucky customer.

It’s unclear how severe Brown’s egg allergy is, but it’s probably the safest bet to not take any chances.

However, the Orange head coach will certainly be hitting the showers shortly after the game with a win, eggnog bath or not, as he uttered one of the iconic phrases of the college football season: Winners get washed.

Brown had revealed to the media he doesn’t shower in the day or so after a loss, feeling he doesn’t deserve soap and needs to pour himself into prepping for the next game. Winners, he said, get washed. And after Syracuse picked up a 33-25 road win over Cal to move to 7-3 in his first year as head coach, Brown quipped that he could finally get clean.

“Yeah I’m about to get washed, winners get washed,” Brown said in a postgame interview with The CW.

After that game, Syracuse players gifted him a bottle of Old Spice soap.

Brown took a victory lap on bringing Kyle McCord at quarterback

Brown was really happy Syracuse landed QB Kyle McCord last winter after he decided to transfer from Ohio State.

In fact, Brown was so happy, that he wanted to send champagne to Ohio State coach Ryan Day. Following this weekend, where McCord helped Syracuse upset Miami and Ohio State lost to Michigan once again, Brown felt validated.

Basically, Day can’t blame McCord for the loss to the Wolverines this time.

“I’m really happy for him. I’m happy for his family. It’s a big deal,” Brown said, via Menace 2 Sports. “It’s a big deal because he’s from New Jersey and I’m from New Jersey, so I’m excited for just our communities, you know, everyone down there represents him, but just the country, to be able to see how good of a football player he is. And, you know, it was kind of put out as if he was the reason (for Ohio State’s losses). So, I mean, I guess after watching him win this weekend, and I don’t know what happened … (you’re) seeing the same results again, you can’t blame Kyle.”

McCord actually leads the nation in passing yards this year with 4,326 yards, 29 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 65.8% completion percentage. Safe to say, McCord played extremely well in a 9-3 season.

“So I’m happy that Kyle was able to go and clear his name, come here and show that he’s a good quarterback,” Brown said. “I got ridiculed for stating that I wanted to send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne where I wasn’t being disrespectful. I was just saying, this guy’s the real deal, and you guys let him come here, like, great, thank you. I still owe him. Should send him some more, should send him a (expletive) case … excuse my language, but just extremely excited and thankful for Kyle.”
