TCU basketball cancels Wednesday game due to COVID
TCU has canceled its basketball game against Texas Southern because of COVID-19 issues, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. The Horned Frogs were originally scheduled to face the Tigers at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
The contest was set to be the last nonconference game of the year for TCU before it entered Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs are scheduled to open conference play against No. 6 Kansas on New Year’s Day in Lawrence. It is unclear whether that game will still be able to be played.
The Horned Frogs currently sit at 10-1 including victories against Utah and Georgetown. Their lone loss of the season came by 19 points against Santa Clara. Guard Mike Miles leads the team in scoring (16.9 PPG), assists (4.6 APG) and steals (1.4 SPG).
COVID has shown itself to be incredibly contagious in the month of December, with more than just TCU basketball forced to postpone or cancel games. In addition to the Horned Frogs, fellow Big 12 school Oklahoma State recently had a game against USC canceled because of issues in the Trojans’ program.
