Chandler Morris claims he has the best hands on TCU: 'I catch pretty much 100% of the snaps'
TCU quarterback Chandler Morris is usually the one throwing passes, but he’s confident he could catch them too if need be. In an interview with On3‘s Andy Staples, Morris made the bold claim that has the best hands of any player on the Horned Frogs’ roster.
He isn’t shy about letting his receivers know either. Morris revealed he frequently jokes with them about their dropped passes, saying he has a nearly perfect catch rate taking snaps from the shotgun.
“I say it often in the locker room and they strongly disagree because they’re receivers,” he said. “They obviously claim they have the best hands on the team and each one of them individually says they’re the best. I personally think I do. I catch pretty much 100% of the snaps. I tell them that all the time. I’m like, ‘Hey, my catch radius is 100%. Y’all have some drops.’ So I let ’em know.”
Morris’ comments were clearly tongue-in-cheek, but he does have some experience playing receiver from his middle school days.
“I played kind of half-receiver, half-quarterback in my eighth grade year,” he said. “So I’m not foreign to it.”

Since then, Morris has focused solely on playing quarterback, where he was a three-star prospect out of Highland Park (TX) High School in 2020. He originally committed to play for Oklahoma but transferred to to TCU in 2021 after his true freshman season with the Sooners.
Morris played just four games his first season in Fort Worth but flashed his potential his lone start against Baylor, totaling 531 yards (461 passing, 70 rushing) and three touchdowns in a 30-28 win. He entered Week 1 of last season as the starting quarterback but suffered an injury as Max Duggan took over for the rest of the year in leading TCU to a national championship appearance.
Now with Duggan on to the NFL, Morris will finally get the chance to show what he can do leading this offense. TCU loses its top three receivers from this past season but returns senior Savion Williams and brought in a pair of transfer in Warren Thompson and John Paul Richardson. Tight end Jared Wiley also figures to play a major role in the passing attack.
Maybe we’ll even get to see Chandler Morris back up his comments if TCU runs a trick play this season. The No. 17 Horned Frogs open the season on Sept. 2 against Deion Sanders and Colorado.
