The TCU Horned Frogs cannot catch a break in their Saturday night matchup against Iowa State. The Horned Frogs currently trail the Cyclones 17-7 midway through the third quarter when disaster struck for their offense. Starting quarterback Chandler Morris had to be helped off the field with a left leg injury after being taken down on a third down play.

On a second-and-three from their own 22-yard line, Morris took the ball on a design quarterback run to the right. The Iowa State defender was able to take him down, but not before TCU picked up the first down. Unfortunately, Morris remained on the ground, clutching at his left knee. As soon as the Horned Frogs starting quarterback went down, redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Hoover immediately started to warm up on the sideline and has now entered the game.

Since the injury, Morris has been helped into the medical tent and currently remains out of the game period. No additional update has been revealed for his status for the remainder of the game.

TCU falls to Iowa State

TCU struggled to put points on the board when Morris was in the game, and after his exit, those troubles were exacerbated, falling 27-14 to the Cyclones. The Horned Frogs starting quarterback left the game, completing 10 of his 16 pass attempts for 94 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Morris also ran the ball five times for 14 yards. Hoover didn’t fare that much better as he completed 11 of his 19 pass attempts for 119 yards with one touchdown and one interception. In all, TCU finished the night with more interceptions (4) than touchdowns (2) as wider receiver JP Richardson added to the total by tossing a pick of his own against Iowa State. The Horned Frogs’ lone bright spot on offense against Iowa State was running back Emani Bailey. The junior from Denton, TX, was the featured ball carrier on the night with 21 carries for 152 yards.
