Oral Roberts has been on quite a run this postseason and has made it all the way to the College World Series as a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Golden Eagles swept their way through the regional round after knocking off No. 11 overall seed Oklahoma State in their first game of the postseason. Oral Roberts then outlasted Oregon in a super regional in Eugene to advance to the College World Series.

TCU star Tre Richardson said this week ahead of the first game of the CWS that he has a ton of respect for the run the Golden Eagles are on. Oral Roberts will face the Horned Frogs in the first game of the CWS on Friday at 2 p.m.

“Yeah, if you are good enough to make it to the College World Series, you’ve got my respect. I mean, that’s the mindset,” Richardson said. “We heard the same thing about Indiana State and them being a mid-major. You’re playing deep in June, you’re a good ball club. That’s something we take into consideration.”

TCU enters the College World Series with a 5-0 record in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the CWS in impressive fashion.

The Horned Frogs outscored the No. 3 overall seed in Arkansas 32-9 in two regional games, before sweeping their way past Indiana State in a super regional with a pair of wins. Now TCU will face the biggest surprise in Omaha in Oral Roberts. Richardson believes the Horned Frogs are ready.

“At the end of the day… if we focus on us more than the opponent that we’re playing, we’re going to be in the best situation,” Richardson said. “Oral Roberts is a good ball club. We have a few people I know over there on that side, and so I have an idea of what they’re about.”

Now Richardson and the Horned Frogs will get an up close look at Oral Roberts on Friday.

Richardson will look to stay hot against the Golden Eagles after a great start to the NCAA Tournament. The junior has four home runs and 15 RBIs in five postseason games.

“At the end of the day, we’re going out there to play TCU baseball,” Richardson said. “We’re not going out there to, ‘OK, we have to tighten up because we’re playing our first game in the College World Series.’ That’s the mindset as a team.”
