4-star Doryan Onwuchekwa sets first official visit
Doryan Onwuchekwa is a four-star center at Oak Cliff (TX) Faith Family Academy. The big man has had a good season, showing growth all over the floor, both in rebounding and in various ways he is able to score.
Onwuchekwa tells me, coming off a 23-point double-double at the Quincy Shootout, he has set his first official visit to TCU for February 10-11.
“They’re pushing the hardest for me right now,” Onwuchekwa told On3. “I went to a game last week; I really like how they space out their offense. I think I can come in and pick-and-pop, space the floor as a big, or they can just throw it into me, and I can go to work.”
The four-star center credits the relationship he is building with the staff for why TCU is getting the first visit.

“Coach (Tony) Benford is the one recruiting me. We got a good relationship; he checks in on me almost every day. He asks how I’m doing; it’s a lot more than just basketball.”
Onwuchekwa breaks down his game and talks recruiting
“I’m an inside-out player,” Doryan Onwuchekwa said. “I am a great rebounder; I can space the floor and knock down shots, and I’m an underrated passer. I watch a lot of people, but I watch a lot of Nikola Jokic, with his passing and how he uses his body.

“I’ll want to play for a program that wins; that is really what matters to me. I’ll look at the culture of a program; I want to play in a culture of guys who are not just for themselves but want to win championships. I think I can adapt to any type of playstyle.”
