TCU star Mike Miles goes down with apparent knee injury vs. Mississippi State
Statement wins have been the early theme of the Big 12/SEC Challenge early in the day, with some surprising results being produced. Mississippi State is looking to be the latest, playing at home against a ranked TCU Horned Frogs team. A challenging task will be ahead of both teams in a break from conference play.
Things have not gotten off to a good start for Jamie Dixon’s team, with a potentially devastating injury taking place. Star guard Mike Miles suffered a right knee injury, occurring away from the ball and being of the non-contract variety.
Miles extended his leg and landed in an awkward position. He immediately fell down and was on the floor asking for help. The ESPN broadcast team later said he was helped to the sideline after looking to be in agonizing pain.
After spending some time on the bench, Miles left the court completely. TCU will take him back to the locker room to take a further look at his right knee.
“(Miles) being helped back to the locker room,” Stefan Krajisnik of the Clarion Ledger said via Twitter.

Mike Miles doubtful to return against Mississippi State
Shortly after being brought into the locker room, the exact injury for Miles was revealed. According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Miles suffered a right knee hyperextension. He is doubtful to return in Starkville for Saturday’s game.
Now, the focus for Miles will be getting healthy for the remainder of Big 12 play. TCU has a serious chance at making a run at the regular season title but losing somebody such as Miles would be a major loss.
Miles is the team’s leading scorer and one of the top in the Big 12. Heading into Saturday, he was averaging just over 19 points per game while adding an average of three rebounds and 3.2 assists.
