Kendre Miller explains staying at TCU under Sonny Dykes, increasing NFL Draft stock

Kendre Miller played one season under Sonny Dykes at TCU but increased his NFL Draft stock throughout the 2022 campaign.
Despite an “Air Raid” style offense run by Dykes and the Horned Frogs, Miller showed out in his final season. Rather than transfer, Miller stood by and learned under a new regime.
He explained why he stayed at the school rather than transfer during the NFL Scouting Combine.
“I had to show them what I could do,” Miller said on Sirius XM’s College Sports Radio. “And I feel like once they saw what I could do, the trust started building. I was like okay, you know, I had many questions like, how would I run the ball and just them getting their trust in the spring and once they saw what I could do, when the season came and just, you know, kind of a really new game.
“There were plenty of times coach (Garrett) Riley came up to me and was like, you know, we need to take over this game and (we’re putting it in your hands) and so just having that kind of trust was why I had so many rushing yards.”
Miller was asked if the role of carrying a team appealed to him in the pros.
“Oh, yeah, most definitely,” Miller said. “I like having the pressure on me and you know, like, pressure situations kind of bring out the best in me. I like being under pressure and being told that ‘we’re gonna put the ball in your hands and we need you to deliver something to help us win this game.’ So that’s mainly the biggest thing and you know, when I would hear that, I’d get fired up.

“Just being able to deliver it and showcase it many times that I can be the deliverer of blows to put a game away or just something like that … It just showed how much trust we had for each other (at TCU).”
Miller helped lead TCU to the national championship game against Georgia and a 13-2 season. He finished the season with 1,399 yards, 17 touchdowns, 6.2 yards per carry, 16 catches and 116 receiving yards.
