LOOK: TCU offensive coordinator Garrett Riley at game of Baylor 4-star QB commit Austin Novosad
No. 4 TCU has a big game on Saturday against No. 18 Texas. Before the Big 12 clash, offensive coordinator Garrett Riley decided to hit the recruiting trail.
Riley is at the game of Dripping Springs (Texas) tonight to watch Baylor four-star quarterback commit Austin Novosad. A 6-foot-3, 185-pound signal-caller, Novosad has been committed to the Bears since Dec. 16, 2021.
Novosad is the No. 131 overall prospect and No. 12 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 25 player in Texas.
The Lone Star State native is the highest-ranked prospect in Baylor’s 2023 recruiting class. The Bears’ group is No. 24 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the Big 12.

At the moment, the Horned Frogs do not have a quarterback commit in their 2023 class. TCU’s group is currently No. 27 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 5 in the Big 12.
Riley has helped quarterback Max Duggan orchestrate one of the top offenses in college football. He is the brother of USC head coach Lincoln Riley.
Austin Novosad On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Austin Novosad:
“Stat-stuffing pure pocket passer with clean mechanics and the ability to throw with timing and touch. Plays in an air-it-out system at the high school level that puts up tons of points. Completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns against 9 interceptions at 10.39 yards per attempt as a junior. Has a natural, tight throwing motion and spins the ball well. Most comfortable when sitting back and delivering from the pocket. Shows nuance as a passer with the ability to deliver well-located throws to all levels.
“Has room to add mass to his 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. Tests as a solid athlete, running a 4.87 second 40-yard dash and jumping 34 inches in the vertical. Can do a better job of translating that athleticism to the field. Has not been much of a playmaker outside of the pocket to this point. Rushed for -27 yards as a junior, the highest-rated 2023 quarterback with a negative rushing total.”
