Max Duggan, Dee Winters won't let championship game loss take away from this season

All is not lost following a 65-7 blowout loss in the national title game against Georgia for TCU.
Speaking with the media afterward, two of their leaders — quarterback Max Duggan and safety Dee Winters — explained why the crushing loss won’t take away from a phenomenal season for the Horned Frogs, and a more than bright future.
“I think Coach Dykes said it, tonight did not go the way we wanted it to. Disappointed in that aspect. But you know, tonight isn’t going to take away from this season, and what we were able to do as a program. I don’t think that’s going to define all the good memories and the success that we had this season,” explained Duggan. “To project and put this program in the right direction moving forward. I think that was the biggest thing of you know, this program is moving the right way. The right direction. There were so many great memories this year.
“Obviously we’re disappointed tonight, but we’re not going to let this kind of take away from a remarkable season.”
The Horned Frogs defensive back echoed his quarterback’s sentiment, stating the the entire team believers in Coach Dykes and the program’s future.

“This is something we definitely weren’t looking forward to, but looking back, it was a long journey, and I think all the guys kind of appreciate Coach Dykes coming in and showing us the ropes of how to be a winner,” added Winters, echoing Duggan. “We’re excited to have them for the next couple of years.”
Alas, it’s safe to say that basically anyone who tells you they thought this type of season was possible from TCU in 2022 is lying. Regardless, the Horned Frogs made memories and made their doubters into believers throughout the season.
Now, the groundwork has been laid for future success, and TCU will be on a mission to prove they belong among the elite in college football.
