The Woodlands (Texas) three-star offensive tackle Ryan Hughes has announced his commitment to TCU. He chose the Horned Frogs over Army, Nebraska and Virginia among others.

“I am extremely excited and blessed to announce my commitment to Texas Christian University,” Hughes wrote in a message published to Twitter. “First off, I would like to thank God and my family for always guiding me down the right path and their unwavering support. I would also like to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me to become better every day.

“Finally, I am truly grateful for the coaches and staff at TCU for giving me this opportunity to play at the next level. With all that being said, Go Frogs!”

Hughes is the No. 797 overall prospect and No. 53 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 124 player in Texas.

TCU is looking to build another strong recruiting class

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound recruit becomes the second member of TCU’s 2024 recruiting class. Fort Worth (Texas) Aledo three-star quarterback Hauss Hejny chose the Horned Frogs on April 6.

“What Coach Dykes has been able to do with a program in one year is absolutely incredible,” Hejny told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “For a below average season the year before, to lead his team to a Natty is really special. I’ve been told many times that they have the potential to have a top-five wide receiver class in the country and that’s a huge part of an offense, that you have to have guys that can go make plays and score you points. That’s really attractive.

“Lastly, family is extremely important to me and TCU is about 20 minutes from my house, so it’s going to be really awesome to be around my brothers when I have some free time or to catch one of their games.  I want to build my legacy in Funky Town.”

Following a surprising run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, TCU’s 2023 recruiting class finished No. 19 in the 2023 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the Big 12. Many of the Horned Frogs’ top commits were from Texas, including Mesquite (Texas) North Mesquite four-star wide receiver Cordale Russell, Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest four-star interior offensive lineman Markis Deal, Freeport (Texas) Brazosport four-star safety Randon Fontenette and Amarillo (Texas) Tascosa four-star defensive lineman Avion Carter.
