TCU 3-star safety commit Ja'dais Richard reopens recruitment
It has been less than two days since Gary Patterson and TCU mutually agreed to part ways and the impact on the recruiting trail has been seismic.
Monday saw Gladewater (Tex.) four-star wide receiver DJ Allen reopen his recruitment and Houston Klein Cain four-star wide receiver Matthew Golden decommitted from the school.
And now West Monroe (La.) three-star safety Ja’dais Richard has reopened his recruitment, making the announcement Tuesday on Twitter.
“The most important thing was just the atmosphere at TCU and how I felt like I was at home,” Richard told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after committing. “I’m excited to join the program.”
Richard is the No. 574 overall recruit in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Ja’dais Richard’s reopening is another sign of TCU’s 2022 class falling farther down the rankings
Anytime a head coach is fired, it is going to result in major changes to a recruiting class. And when that head coach is as renowned and synonymous with the school as Patterson, there will be a lot of commits rethinking there decisions.
None of what happened recruiting wise in the last 48 hours is shocking. But the Horned Frogs do have to work hard to keep the class together.

TCU’s class was already on the smaller side when Monday began with 10 commits, and that number has dropped to nine following Golden’s decommitment.
Golden was the Horned Frogs’ highest-ranked recruit in the 2022 On300 at No. 74 and is the No. 232 recruit in the On3 Consensus.
“Having the relationship that I had with Coach Patterson played a big role in my commitment,” Golden said. “Seeing the head coach resign caught me off guard because I would have never thought it would be him. With that being said, me and my family felt that it was best for me to take a step back and re-open my recruitment.”
He and Allen, the No. 173 player in the country, made up two of the Horned Frogs top three commits.
Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau, TCU’s top commit, is still committed to the Horned Frogs. But the No. 148 prospect in the country tweeted four thinking emojis after Patterson’s resignation was announced.
